Licensing Overview
| TeamSpeak licensing is generally server-based. If you are simply using the TeamSpeak client to connect to someone else's server or if you plan on renting a server from an Authorized TeamSpeak Hosting Provider (ATHP), then you do not need a license. Unlicensed
|
TeamSpeak is provided free of charge for non-commercial groups or individuals who wish to host their own TeamSpeak servers in a limited capacity. To use TeamSpeak without a license, just download and install the TeamSpeak server -- no signup is required. Unlicensed use of TeamSpeak 2 is limited to ten virtual servers with up to 1000 combined slots, while unlicensed use of TeamSpeak 3 is limited to one virtual server with up to 32 slots.
Unlicensed use is ideal for: Friends & family, small gaming clans/guilds, online study groups, church groups. |
Non-Profit

Non-profit licensing is for non-commercial groups or individuals who would be eligible to use TeamSpeak unlicensed, but require more servers or slots than are available without a license. To use a TeamSpeak non-profit license, you will need to register an account and provide your name, contact information, and an active email address which will be used to generate and deliver your license key. To use your license, you simply download and install the TeamSpeak server and copy your licensekey.dat file into the server directory. TeamSpeak 3 non-profit licenses are limited to a maximum of ten virtual servers and up to 512 combined slots. Non-profit licenses are issued for a period of one year and are automatically renewed for an additional year if the license is still in-use.
Non-Profit licenses are ideal for: Large groups of friends & family, large gaming clans/guilds, academic groups.

Annual Activation/Single Server

Annual Activation licenses are for indivuduals or companies who do not qualify for a non-profit license and wish to host a TeamSpeak server. Standard configurations for server and slot counts are offered via our automated sales system, however if you require a larger number of servers or slots, a custom license can be created to suit your needs by contacting our sales team.
Purchasing a TeamSpeak 3 Annual Activation license is easy and is a completely automated process. Once you register for an account, add the license by choosing "Buy NEW License". You will immediately be invoiced. Once the invoice is paid, your license will automatically be provisioned and you will receive your license key via email. Annual Activation licenses are issued for a period of one year, at which point you may renew your license for an additional year at a discounted rate. Annual Activation Licenses are ideal for: Commercial entities, military and government agencies.

Authorized TeamSpeak Hosting Provider (ATHP)
|
ATHP licenses are a special license specifically for companies who wish to resell TeamSpeak servers to the general public. ATHP licenses are usage-based, and are billed monthly based on the average number of configured slots for servers which are active during the previous month. ATHP licenses are subject to a monthly minimum charge, equivalent to 200 configured slots. If, for the previous month, an ATHP is billed less than the monthly minimum, an additional fee will be charged for the difference. ATHPs hosting more than the minimum are charged no additional fees.
The process to become and ATHP is slightly more involved than acquiring a standard license. In order to become an ATHP, you must provide copies of your business license or personal identifiation (depending on business type) and be manually approved by our sales staff. The first step to becoming an ATHP is to register for an account and purchase the "TS3 ATHP Application" license. Once your invoice is paid, an application will be sent to you along detailed information on how to complete your documents bundle. After all of your documents are reviewed and approved, your ATHP license will be issued and will be immediately active. Please note that due to the monthly minimum usage charge, even if you are not actively hosting TeamSpeak, you will begin to be charged monthly fees once your license is issued. ATHP licenses are issued for a period of one year, and are automatically renewed for an additional year if the account is in good-standing. ATHP Licenses are ideal for: Game and voice hosting companies.

Software Development Kit (SDK)

The TeamSpeak 3 Software Development Kit (SDK) offers a complete integrated solution for online games, virtual worlds, social networks, military simulators, education, or any application where up to thousands of users require crystal clear simultaneous voice communication. In addition to being available for Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, and FreeBSD, support for addition platforms may be available upon request. Licensing costs for the SDK are determined on a case-by-case basis.
